On January 15, Sun Youhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Southeast University, visited our school to inspect the construction of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Electromechanical Comprehensive Engineering Training, gaining an in-depth understanding of the construction and operation of undergraduate teaching laboratories. He was accompanied by Vice President Sun Litao, Director of the University President's Office Ji Min, and Deputy Director of the Laboratory and Equipment Management Department Zhang Yuanjian. Also participating in the inspection were Wang Jun, Party Secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering; Dean Fei Qingguo; Assistant Dean Li Yanbin; and representatives of faculty and students.
President Sun Youhong listened to Assistant Dean Li Yanbin's report on the center's construction progress, achievements, and plans, and learned in detail about the center's development history, operation model, teaching tasks, and equipment utilization. He affirmed the school's accomplishments in building teaching practice platforms and innovation practice bases, and pointed out that the center should further break through the limitations of traditional model displays and actively explore the reform of a "project-driven + real-scenario" practice teaching model. He requested that the center closely integrate the characteristics of the mechanical engineering discipline, design a practical project library, introduce real enterprise cases, strengthen students' full-process practical training from solution design to result verification, and enhance their ability to solve complex engineering problems.
During the inspection, Sun Youhong visited the school's basic teaching laboratories, specialized teaching laboratories, and innovation practice bases, carefully examining the environmental layout and equipment configuration. He emphasized that engineering practice and scientific research innovation are key links in cultivating leading talents. As the lead construction unit of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Electromechanical Comprehensive Engineering Training, the School of Mechanical Engineering should closely focus on cutting-edge technology trends and the goal of cultivating leading talents, continuously optimize experimental projects, and coordinate the renovation and upgrading of laboratory equipment and environment. At the same time, it should strengthen safety foundations, comprehensively enhance the construction of safety protection facilities and the management of operational standards during practice teaching, so as to create a safe and high-quality practice teaching environment for both faculty and students.
